Safer Streets Community Champion Programme
In partnership with other specialist groups in Carmarthenshire, Threshold DAS is happy to be delivering the Safer Streets Community Champion Programme – an initiative to improve community safety. Threshold DAS and other domestic abuse services would like to highlight violence against women and girls in our communities; to help individuals in their communities to be better able to recognise violence and abuse and to empower them to exercise strategies to help develop ‘safer streets’.
In this vein, Threshold DAS is offering Safer Streets training – a 2-hour course that explores how we can safely challenge sexist views on sexual violence and domestic abuse (as well as other forms of abuse) without endangering ourselves when we witness it in our community.
Furthermore, the course…
- explains domestic and sexual abuse as presented in public spaces,
- will help individuals challenge in a safe way misogynistic and sexist views and to prevent abuse from happening in the first place,
- and will explore why the system often blames victims rather than hold accountable those who use abuse/violence.
