At the heart of our education curriculum, is the on-going provision of Domestic Abuse and sexual Violence training. Running through term time, on each Tuesday we have the Freedom Programme in the morning and the Recovery Toolkit in the afternoon.
The Freedom Programme is a 12-week course running two hours a week. This examines the attitudes, beliefs and actions of abusive men and the responses of victims and survivors. The aim is to help victims make sense of, and understand what has happened to them. The course also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to domestic abuse and how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed. For more information about this programme please visit the Freedom Programme page.
The Recovery Toolkit is a 12-week programme for two hours a week. This aims to provide knowledge to help recover from the effects of living with domestic abuse. It is a useful follow on from the Freedom Programme and is designed for women who have left their abusive partner. This is a ‘closed group’ programme, meaning participants are expected to attend sessions every week and new referrals will automatically be placed on the next programme.
We also offer accredited courses free of charge, to our service-users (eligibility criteria applies). They are accredited through Agored Cymru through the following units:
