Education and Employability

WISH ( Well Being Integrated Support Hub)

The WISH (Well Being and Integrated Support Hub) Department,  started in 2013 when Threshold DAS (formally known as Llanelli Women’s Aid Ltd) were successful in achieving European Structural Funding (ESF) in partnership with Welsh Government, and financially managed by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). ESF aims to reduce economic activity in the convergence areas of Wales. The outcomes were to support participants into either volunteering, further learning, employment or supported employment opportunities and enabled us to work in partnership with local organisations in Carmarthenshire.

The project aimed to support women and men to overcome barriers, which were preventing them from moving forward such as, low self-esteem, confidence and self-belief. We worked on a one-to-one and group basis, on goal setting including workshops on Confidence Building, Assertiveness, Anger Management, Freedom Programme, Recovery Tool Kit, Money Management, Healthy Lifestyles, Maintaining a Tenancy, Career Planning, Mindfulness, Planning an Enterprise Activity, Entrepreneurship, Tai Chi, Salsa Dancing, Community Development, Volunteering, Parenting and Arts & Crafts.

Weekly coffee mornings, with structured activities are offered for a relaxed and informal environment for participants to settle into our service provision. During the pandemic these have remained on-line.
