Ofsted have called for a new focus on the effects of domestic abuse on children

After a review by Ofsted and three other agencies, calls have been made to put greater focus on the effects domestic abuse has on children. Research suggests one in five children have witnessed some form of domestic abuse which is quite a large proportion of the community. The aim behind this greater focus is to highlight to families the extent to which domestic abuse effects children, even at an early age.

Another focal part of this new initiative is to identify and implement intervention methods which have a high success rate with some calling for new child protection laws to be put in place.
