A new Level 2 qualification will be on offer for participants of LIMITLESS. The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with the vital skills to offer safe and effective support in carrying out intervention in support situations including domestic abuse and sexual violence.
There are a number of roles within the domestic abuse sector including outreach, young person’s violence advisor, independent domestic violence advisor etc. We’re aware that although there are core skills and knowledge that are universal, each of these roles bring specialist needs. Through delivering this qualification internally we are confident that participants will be able to develop their skills in a manageable way that suits themselves and their employers.
A qualification available at Level 2 and Level 3 designed is to provide learners with the underpinning skills to offer safe and effective support in carrying out intervention in support situations including domestic abuse and sexual violence. The qualification recognises a variety of roles within the domestic abuse sector. Although there are core skills and knowledge that are universal, each role brings specialist needs. The qualification will enable learners to develop their skills in a flexible and manageable way, which will include online learning. The Award and Extended Award will be Agored Cymru accredited.
The Level 2 Award in Supporting the domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) Sector through Volunteering comprises of six units, as follows:
- Understanding Violence Against Women
- Understanding Stalking and Harassment
- VAWDASV – Records and Reports
- Understanding VAWDASV and Supporting Services
- Understand how to support individuals who have experienced Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence
- Awareness of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence; causes, consequences and impact. The Core Skills of a Support Practitioner
