Five years ago, at a team meeting, it was agreed that Threshold needed to find a way of not only offering support and safety to women but also a way of offering them opportunities to turn their lives around. We were seeing more and more women coming back to Threshold – some with a different alleged perpetrator, some who had been in refuge as children, but were now victims/survivors requiring support, and others looking for meaningful training opportunities to help them move forward with their lives.
In 2013 we launched the educational arm of Threshold DAS. Threshold DAS was very fortunate that we, at that time, held several Educational and Employability contracts that supported individuals who were unemployed and economically inactive. However, we found that many women wanted to access our courses who were ineligible because they were working or on a zero-hour contract.
And so LIMITLESS was born.
LIMITLESS was launched in May 2019 after a seven month mobilisation period. LIMITLESS took referrals before this date, but courses did not start until 1st May 2019.
LIMITLESS is an educational programme of support funded by the Welsh European Social Fund under Priority 2, Skills for Growth Wales: Specific Objective 4 It was designed to provide upskilling opportunities for women in employment aged 18 and over, who are working (self-employed, part time, full time, or on a zero-hour contracts) or living in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Caerphilly, Torfaen or Blaenau Gwent.
