New York passes new law on gun ownership

The governor of New York has recently passed legislation which bans any individual who has been convicted of domestic violence from owning a firearm. This is in response to the continuous gun-related incidents in the US as well as the apparent inaction on behalf of President Trump.

This law will require those convicted of abuse to hand over any rifles, shotguns and other related firearms. This is in response to statistics which show nine out of the ten deadliest mass shootings in US were carried out by individuals who had an existing record of committing or threatening violence against women or harassing women.

A similar bill has also been passed by Bernie Sanders in Vermont.
