LEVEL 2 AWARD in Volunteering in the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Sector
A new level 2 qualification will be on offer for participants of LIMITLESS from March 2020.
The purpose of this qualification is to provide volunteers with the vital skills to offer safe and effective support in carrying out intervention in support situations including domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The Level 2 Award in Volunteering in the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Sector is a qualification for individuals who are volunteering and are interested in working with those experiencing domestic abuse and or sexual violence.
It provides volunteers with the opportunity to critically explore the psychological distress caused by domestic abuse and sexual violence and associated personal behaviour and belief systems in the aftermath of leaving abusive relationships and whilst in recovery.
The aim of the qualification is to increase learner’s knowledge and understanding of the expectations of the domestic abuse and sexual violence sector and understand the role that volunteers have to play in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.
There are a number of roles within the domestic abuse sector including outreach, young person’s violence adviser, independent domestic violence adviser etc.
We’re aware that although there are core skills and knowledge that are universal, each of these roles bring specialist needs. Through delivering this qualification internally we are confident that participants will be able to develop their skills in a manageable way that suits themselves and their employers.
Level 2 extended Award and Level 3 award to follow later in the year.
